Washington, D.C. — Honfleur Gallery, in proud partnership with Valley Place Arts Collaborative, announces the opening of In Living Color, a bold and timely group exhibition curated by award-winning artist Luis Del Valle. The exhibition opens with a public reception on Saturday, August 16 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Honfleur Gallery in Historic Anacostia.

Inspired by the legendary 1990s TV series celebrated for its unapologetic creativity and cultural commentary, In Living Color channels that same energy through a visual lens—inviting viewers to explore color as a powerful force for expression, resistance, and healing.

“This lineup feels like assembling the Avengers,” says Del Valle. “Each artist brings a unique vision and voice, but together they form something greater—an explosion of meaning and momentum.”

The opening night will include a special VIP reception (limited to the first 100 RSVPs), offering an intimate opportunity to meet the artists and enjoy live performances by acclaimed poet John Johnson and America’s Got Talent sensation Malik Dope, whose electrifying drumming has captivated audiences nationwide.

Featuring a vibrant mix of abstract, figurative, and mixed media works, the exhibition showcases a collective of artists who use color not just as aesthetic, but as a vehicle for storytelling, resistance, and joy. In an era defined by rapid transformation and social reckoning, In Living Color highlights how creativity can be a catalyst for hope and community resilience.
